Biography: Andres Carvallo is an award-winning engineer, speaker, author, and executive. He is globally recognized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers as one of the early developers of the smart grid concept and technology. He championed Austin Energy’s industry-leading smart grid program design and implementation from 2003-2010 and designed the Pecan Street Project in 2009.
Andres has more than 28 years of experience in the energy, telecommunications, computer, and software industries. He has been responsible for the successful development and commercialization of more than 40 products at 6 start-ups and leading global companies like Philips Electronics, Digital Equipment, and Borland. Andres received a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Kansas and has postgraduate certificates from Stanford University, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Idaho.
