Graduate Research Funding Opportunies
Overview
There are typically numerous, funded, research opportunities available at CURENT. Graduate Teach Assistant (GTA) positions are offered through the campuses of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK); Northeastern University (NEU); Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI); and Tuskegee University (TU), but CURENT offers additional Graduate Reasearch Assistantships (GRAs) for students who will perform research alone. GTAs generally provide course support as well as reasearch support.
In addition to the CURENT GRA positions, each faculty member also has resources available through additional funding sources such as research grants, company sponsorships, private donations, and etc.

DOE Traineeship Program - UTK Wide Bandgap Power Electronics Traineeship
The Wide Bandgap Traineeship is a design-oriented, hands-on graduate degree program at The University of Tennessee Knoxville, focusing on the use of wide bandgap semiconductors and power electronics. Traineeships are available for Masters or Doctoral-level studies. All students accepted into the program will receive a full waiver of tuition, and a $30,000 yearly stipend during their studies. CURENT Graduate Research Assistantship
The Knoxville Graduate Research Assistantship is a research oriented graduate program offered in Power Systems, Power Electronics, Smart Grid and Renewable Energy. GRAs are available for Masters or Doctoral-level studies. All students accepted into the program will receive a full waiver of tuition, and a $30,000 yearly stipend during their studies.
