Center Director Speaks at Local Science Cafe

CURENT Director Kevin Tomsovic attended a question-and-answer discussion at nearby Ijams Nature Center. The event, called Science Cafe, is organized by local software engineer David Spakes. Spakes coordinates the monthly meetings to promote science education and encourage the community to engage in a broad range of scientific topics. Dr. Tomsovic spoke with the group about today's power grid, the challenges of incorporating renewable energy, and common misconceptions related to electric energy transmission.
"The power grid is a topic relevant for everyone," said Spakes. "I think nearly everyone who came to the meeting asked a question or added a comment, so the discussion was exciting and enjoyable."
Science Cafe is open to anyone interested in expanding their knowledge or discussing the presented topic each month.
