The CURENT SLC Seminar Series continues on Friday, Jan. 22th. Xiangyu Niu will be the presenter. The series is held every Friday from 12:20 PM - 1:10 PM EDT in Min Kao Building, Room 525 unless otherwise specified.
Title: Privacy-preserving algorithms and its applications in smart grid
Abstract: The need for data security and privacy spans the whole life cycle of the data in the smart grid, across the phases of data acquisition, local processing and archiving, collaborative processing, and sharing and archiving. Collaborative processing occurs when the processing of private data takes place in an entity other than the data originator. For example, a public cloud creates no data, but it can help to process data. In this case, data privacy is one challenging requirement on top of data security. We analyze some well-established data privacy-preserving algorithms which can be used in the smart grid to illustrate the how the new technologies like cloud computing can form a synergy to solve these problems.
