CURENT and East Tennessee Discovery Center host Whittle Springs Middle School Science Night

Knoxville, Tenn. - The East Tennessee Discovery Center and the University of Tennessee's new Engineering Research Center, CURENT, have collaborated to host a Science Night event for students and parents at Whittle Springs Middle School on February 21 at 5:30pm.
The event has been created as part of CURENT’s educational mission to inspire young students to learn about math, science, technology and engineering. With the help of the Discovery Center, an anticipated 250 students and parents in the Whittle Springs community will be exposed to a variety of exhibits ranging from DNA extraction of strawberries to solar-powered cars.
Science Night has been coordinated by Margaret Maddox, Director of ET Discovery Center, Dr. Chien-fei Chen, Co-Director of Education & Diversity at CURENT, and Andrea Allen, K-12 Science Instructional Coach for Knox County Schools, as well as the administration at Whittle Springs.
