Title: The Job Search: Embrace the Process
Abstract: The Job Search Process can be long, frustrating, filled with ups and downs, and that is why they call it A PROCESS. In this presentation we are going to talk through the entire process from start to finish, while also highlighting some key tips and resources that are at your fingertips. Some items that will be covered include resumes, job search truths, the importance of networking, and much more. Whether you are graduating in December 2018, or simply searching for a summer internship, you won’t want to miss out on how to land the opportunity you have been waiting for.
Bio: Travis is the consultant to the Tickle College of Engineering where he works with students, faculty, staff, and employers from various engineering disciplines, majors, and departments. Most often, he sees students majoring in aerospace, chemical, civil, computer and computer science, electrical, environmental, industrial, materials science, mechanical, nuclear, and reliability and maintainability engineering. In his role, Travis counsels students on career options, reviews materials such as resumes and cover letters, provides job and internship search strategies, helps students plan for graduate school, and helps students with the transition to life after UTK. Travis also provides programming opportunities for employers to engage with students on campus. With his position in the Center for Career Development, Travis is a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), Southern Association of College and Employers (SoACE) and he is currently serving as the Secretary for the Tennessee Association of Colleges and Employers (TACE).
